The UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres (ASDC), The Royal Society of Chemistry and BOC, the UK’s biggest industrial and medical gases company, launched a new partnership bringing together some of the most fascinating and diverse chemistry in the country with the talents and infrastructure of the nation’s largest network of science engagement organisations.
The Secret World of Gases programme was developed with expertise from ASDC, The Royal Society of Chemistry and BOC with additional development from Winchester Science Centre and Arcola Energy.
This project was led by:
Dr Penny Fidler – ASDC – Programme Director
Andy McLeod – ASDC – Project Manager
Dr Susan Vickers – Royal Society of Chemistry
Susan Tyzack – BOC
Dr Ben Littlefield – Winchester Science Centre
Arlan Harris – Arcola Energy
The UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres (ASDC) brings together more than 60 of the UK’s major science engagement organisations including all the key science and discovery centres and science museums. The ASDC membership makes up the largest network of science engagement professionals in the UK who together engage over 20 million people each year with the wonders of science. 10 million of those we engage are school-age students, and over 10 million are girls and women. Between them, these centres work with 385,000 members of the public every week of the year, in all parts of the UK, helping people to explore and delve into science in a hands-on, involving and personal way.
ASDC is an educational charity based in Bristol. A map of all the UK centres is at www.sciencecentres.org.uk and we are on Twitter @ScienceCentres.
The Royal Society of Chemistry is the world’s leading chemistry community, advancing excellence in the chemical sciences. With over 50,000 members and a knowledge business that spans the globe, we are the UK’s professional body for chemical scientists; a not-for-profit organisation with 175 years of history and an international vision for the future. We promote, support and celebrate chemistry. We work to shape the future of the chemical sciences – for the benefit of science and humanity.
